Sheila Powell passed away on December 20, 2025 at Idabel, Oklahoma. She was born on September 8, 1964, in Ashdown, Arkansas, to James and Bonnie Bridges Combs. On February 27, 1988, she married the love of her life, Mike Powell, in Swink, Oklahoma, beginning a marriage rooted in deep family love. Sheila was a lifelong resident of McCurtain County, where she built a life surrounded by family, faith, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Bonnie Combs, and her sister, Tammy Combs.
Sheila was a longtime member of Tom Baptist Church and loved attending church as long as her health allowed. Her faith was important to her and remained close to her heart even when she could no longer be present physically. Sheila had a fun-loving spirit. She was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan, loved everything Disney, and had a soft spot for her cats, who brought her much comfort and joy.
Known by many as the sweetest person, Sheila loved to cut up, joke, and make others laugh. Her warmth and kindness left a lasting impression on everyone she met. Even as her health declined, Sheila showed remarkable strength and determination. She never gave up and fought bravely, not for herself alone, but for the people she loved most. Her family was her reason, her motivation, and her greatest pride.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Mike Powell; daughter, Paige Powell Davis and husband Justin of Tom; grandchildren, Grace and Whitley Davis; mother-in-law, Joyce Powell; brother-in-law, Marshall Powell; niece, Jessica Woodall and husband Aaron along with their son, River; nephews, Matthew Powell and wife Rachel and their children, Sheila, Tina, and Kenny, and Dalton Hobbs; along with numerous other relatives and dear friends who will miss her deeply.
A celebration of life service will be held Tuesday, December 23, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at the Clardy Funeral Service Chapel with Bro. Jerry Galloway officiating. Interment will follow in the Denison Cemetery.
