Steve Ray Holmes was called home on Sunday, April 6, 2025 at the age of 72 years. Steve battled several medical issues for nearly 20 years, at times in severe pain and suffering. No matter what he was going through, he always had a special laugh to cover up the worst of what he was feeling. Steve was born May 20, 1952 to Roy Ray and Bonnie Holmes.
An avid OU Sooner fan until the end, Steve’s wardrobe consisted of mostly Sooners’ attire. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and spent a lot of time in Florida fishing. Spending his nights playing poker with the boys was a favorite hobby of his that he truly enjoyed. He worked as an industrial painter and concrete finisher for many years before retiring.
At the age of fourteen Steve and Claudette met. It wasn’t until twenty-six years later they married on January 31, 1997 and spent 28 years together until his death. They were truly meant for each other, and he was Claudette’s true love.
Preceding him in death was an infant daughter, Kaylynn Holmes; parents, Roy and Bonnie Holmes; sister, Patricia (Trish) Holmes.
Remaining to remember and honor him is his wife, Claudette Holmes of Hochatown; stepson, Christopher Meeker of Texarkana, Texas; three children, Steven Holmes of Idabel, Matthew Holmes of Montana, Dustin Holmes of Harrah, Oklahoma; two sisters, Dorthy (Holmes) McKearin and husband George of Dallas, Texas, Carlotta (Holmes) Grimes and husband Jimbo of Idabel; special nephew, John (Buddy) Holmes and wife Tammy of Grand Cane, Louisiana; and a host of other family members and friends.
A celebration of life service will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 12, 2025 at Clardy Funeral Service Chapel. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 12, 2025 at Clardy Funeral Service Chapel prior to the service.
