Wayne Clardy Obituary

Ellis Wayne Clardy, 75 of the Forest Grove Community, was born May 31, 1947 at Idabel, Oklahoma, the son of Jesse B. and Estel Laughter Clardy.  He was a lifetime member of the Bypass Church of Christ from an early age.  He graduated Idabel Gray High School and entered the United States Army National Guard where he served 10 years as Supply Sergeant.  He married Treva Whitten at her parents’ home on August 12, 1967.  They made their home in the Forest Grove Community where they raised 4 sons.

Wayne was a member of many organizations and served on many boards as a volunteer such as the President of the Jaycee’s, Forest Grove Cemetery Board, Garvin Water Board, Forest Grove School Board for eighteen years and the McCurtain County Spring Livestock Boosters for forty-two years.    He received the Honorary Chapter FFA Degree from the Idabel FFA and the Honorary State FFA Degree of the Oklahoma FFA Association.  He worked for Oklahoma Natural Gas for many years before retiring to his family farm to run his chicken houses.

A family man who traveled many miles keeping up with his grandkids doing what they do, you could assure PaPaw would always be there.  He was a gentle-giant.  He was the one you could count on.  He was a man of faith. He was a leader, a husband, father, grandfather and friend.  He always had a positive outlook on life. He believed things will all work out and they always did. He was approachable, encouraging and trustworthy.  He still believed a “handshake” meant more than what was written on paper.

Wayne enjoyed hunting, fishing, spending time with his family and bowling when he was younger. One of his greatest hobbies was joking and laughing.  He picked on everyone.  He believed “Humor was the spice of life and everybody needs to laugh.” He had an impact on everyone he met for that reason and many others.

Wayne passed away Thursday, September 22, 2022 at Texarkana, Texas surrounded by his wife and children.

One who is to be remembered, Wayne is survived by his wife of fifty-five years whom he demonstrated “For richer, for poorer, in sickness and health, to love and to cherish, til death do us part”, Treva Clardy; sons and daughters-in-law who will all do their best to continue his legacy and share the love and qualities he instilled in them, Kevin Clardy, Dwight and Kelly Clardy, Steven and Amy Clardy, Dustin and Jennifer Clardy; grandchildren, Kyler Clardy and wife Alison, Hannah Henderson, Sammie McMillen and husband JC, Cheyanne Clardy, Jay Clardy and wife Ani, Cole Clardy, McKenna Clardy, Katelyn Clardy, Alexia Clardy, Cash Clardy, Ryan Clardy, Aidan Clardy, Adelynn Clardy; great-granddaughters, Havyn Ann Clardy, Emma McMillen and Callie McMillen; sisters, Christine Hughes and Bobbye Jean Jacobs; brother-in-law, John Farley; numerous other relatives and a host of friends.
